FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OPENCUBE STEPS IN TO HELP STREAMLINE THE MTV NETWORK ARCHIVE MIGRATION PROCESS OpenCubeSD servers, along with XFReader and XFConverter, provide an ideal solution for boosting MTV's MXF workflow. TOULOUSE, France - April 10th, 2008 - OpenCube Technologies, a company specialized in MXF-file management and exchange, announces that MTV Networks NYC and MTV Networks Latin America, two Viacom subsidiaries, have implemented a number of OpenCubeSD ingest gateways to enhance their media archive migration systems. Viacom oversees the operations of many leading TV network and Internet brands, including the MTV channels. MTV Networks had a number of specific requirements concerning the digitization of their archives in MXF file format. They were seeking a comprehensive solution that would enable them to convert video tape into MXF files, to view and check contents before deep archiving and, at the same time, would ensure editing-tool exchange interoperability. Several OpenCubeSD ingest DDR are being used to digitize the MTV video tapes into Op1a D10 MXF file formats. As OpenCube's storage architecture permits connexions to Apple XSan-typed central storage systems, this enables direct access to MXF media during content creation. OpenCube XFReader, the MXF Viewer available in both VGA and SDI modes, is then implemented for checking the ingested media. The quality control management system can be accessed from any user desktop, either directly on the VGA screen or on a video monitor equipped with an SDI card. OpenCube's XFConverter provides the connexions with the editing tool. The application automatically detects and converts MXF files into other compatible media formats on the market, such as Quicktime. "After several tests, it became evident that OpenCube's MXF solutions were the best choice for us. The quality of the products - their complementary and reliability - were perfectly adapted to our workflow needs," says Carlos Hernandez, Vice-President for IT Systems & Technology at MTV Networks Latin America. "The high-level service provided by OpenCube's technical team was a key factor in our decision as well," he adds. "MTV is our first project in the U.S, although we have already had several successful implementations in Europe," says Benoît Février, OpenCube's CEO. "We are delighted with the choice made by MTV Networks Latin America and MTV Networks NYC. We are confident that we will meet their expectations and that we will be able to help them to achieve - and even exceed - their goals."
